In Your Opinion … Work Attire

Fab Savvy’s In Your Opinion series is your chance to sound off.
Tell THE WORLD what you think. Today’s topic is Work Attire.
Ms A-List’s Opinion: I have lived in cool&casual California AND in straight&southern Texas. Both are big states with big ideas on how things should be done. So when I see some one dressed for work in an outfit that shows a little more thought than black pants and a solid color top, my inner Cali-girl applauds them. However, at times, the southern belle in me is disappointed when the line between stylish and “does she want this job?” is crossed.
SO I want to hear from you. IN YOUR OPINION, HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH FOR A WORK ENVIRONMENT? How should you decide? What is completely unacceptable? What do you like to see? What is outdated (example: pantyhose)? What are some stylish solutions or alternatives? WHAT PROFESSIONS WARRANT MORE LIBERAL DRESS CODES?
Sound off you Fab Savvy people . . . post your comments below!

Fashion is not a science as we all know. Knowing what looks good on you is just step one to showing you have good fashion sense. Office attire is obviously simpler for men than women.

Every work place has a “dress code” culture. There are a lot of black suit white shirt companies where it is protocol for both men and women to dress to code. But even a black suit with a skirt can look FAB with the right accessories. I think you should accessorize to match your personality. If you wear what you like your attitude and confidence matches which equals productivity. Fashion in the workplace is only too much when it’s borderline inappropriate (such as too much cleavage, too much showing from the back split, or a mini miniskirt). And even a miniskirt can be appropriate in the right industry such as fashion/retail/beauty. Pantyhose are totally outdated (too hot in Texas for that). I’d like to see more color in work attire. And I’d especially like to see more individuality and style. The “code” may call for black and white but there’s a lot of GRAY in between!
