Cinco De FAB-O

In honor of Cinco De Mayo, FSF, presents these FIVE tips to get you fashionably through the rest of May and into the other summer months.

Uno: Loosey Goosey – as the heat kicks up outside, try to utilize loose, free-flowing options.

Floral Mini

This will allow heat to escape your body more easily and you’ll really enjoy that random breeze. (See floral mini by PAUL & JOE)

Dos: Up & At ‘Em – Experiment with hairstyles that keep your hair somewhat gathered.  Loose buns or ponytails will keep hair of your neck, keeping you cooler. These styles are also good for outdoor activities.

Summer Style

Summer Style

Tres: Color Me Softer – Heat means using softer and brighter tones as opposed to deeper ones. From nail polish to lip gloss to accessories, try pinks and corals instead of reds and dark berries.

Cuatro: Protect and Pamper – In all the excitement of new summer styles don’t forget the most important thing is to protect your skin and face. SPF is the word, go for products that offer sun protection especially for your face and any skin that will be exposed.

Cinco: Express Yourself – This season is all about you. No time of year is better to find your own unique style, so get out there and do some digging. When your out, make mental note of what you like on people and what you don’t. Take it even further and see what works for those with your body type. Keep those styles in mind when you shop for yourself, and find the bargains that speak to the look you want to achieve.

HOT STUFF – Lips

Now that it is starting to warm up outside, you’ll be spending much more time outdoors. The beautiful days will beckon you and soon reading, eating, and other activities will be hosted by the breezes and sunrays. HOLD IT … Sunrays?!

Before we get all caught up in the warmth of it all, let’s make sure we are prepared to FACE the sunshine we’ll be basking in, by bumping up our SPF.

1st lets talk lips. Both guys and girls want to make sure to protect their pucker from to much sun exposure. The best smile in the world is no match for cracked-out lips (nobody wants to kiss that). Try Mario Badescu’s Lip Wax SPF 15, its like “super chapstick”!

MB Lip Wax

MB Lip Wax

You’ll pay a few more bucks for it, but because it protects against wind, sun, cold, hot, whatever – you’ll get your money’s worth. It shields against UVA & UVB rays, contains palm oil, and smells pretty good too.  - $5 at bluemercury.com

Ladies, you know the heat means lighter looks and brighter colors. Let us not get so focused on switching from the deep berry shade of lip gloss to a coral color that we forget to add sun protection.

Try e.l.f.’s Super Glossy Shine w/ SPF 15. They are practically giving it away at drugstore.com. – $1.49 at drugstore.com

Stay in touch with FSF as we’ll be bringing you more tips on how to look hot without getting burned.
